There are millions of bloggers out there on
the Internet, chronicling the minutiae of their daily lives or of the
world. A good portion of these bloggers
blog not only for the enjoyment, but for money as well. Finding a niche in the blogging world is
difficult because it is nearly impossible to find one that is not already
overcrowded. There is a special kind of
niche that revolves around what is "hot", including sports, new
technology and world news. While this
niche is the hardest to get into, the rewards are the most satisfying.
Buzz blogging is the term associated with
blogging about popular current events.
The key word there is popular; if the events are current but boring, you
will not get the same effect blogging about them. Starting a buzz blog is fairly easy, although
if you want to be successful, you should acquire your own domain name, as your
hopes of success are much lower if you are running off a subdomain. Choosing a name is hard because your blog
posts do not follow one specific topic, so the best road to take is to pick a
name that is catchy and memorable instead of keyword rich.
How do you know what the "buzz"
is? There are several mediums, including
the Internet, TV, and radio. For
example, if the Superbowl was coming up between two rival teams, that would a
huge event and millions of people would be searching the Internet for
information about anything related to it.
Therefore, you should make a multitude of blog posts, not just a few, about
the Superbowl. Just doing two posts will
not be enough; you need to cover it in depth and all the time, blogging about
any little tidbits of news that pop up.
The more content you have, the more traffic you will get.
Sometimes things can get complicated when
there are many popular events going on.
You can either choose to focus on one or two or try to take them all,
although you would sacrifice the full coverage of individual events by doing
so. If you feel you have the time, you
could write as much as possible about everything, which would bring you huge
amounts of traffic. Over time, as your
blog becomes more established, you will get heaps of returning visitors instead
of just new visitors checking out the latest craze. That's the appeal of buzz blogging; you get a
constant stream of new visitors from search engines while slowly building a
solid base of readers.
