If you find keywords with little competition then it's simple to rank on the first page for that given keyword and it could  bring in lots of traffic without the need to ever worry about maintaining the keyword unless more competition starts appearing. 

The best keywords to target are misspelled versions of popular keywords, and there are lots of them that receive tons of traffic. A lot of people when searching the search engines will make a typo without noticing and click enter, now instead of it saying you used incorrect spelling it will still pop-up with results.

It also will let you know that you misspelled the word, but most people don't notice that and continue to the pages that appear. Now a lot of times you can find keywords getting search engine traffic with misspellings in them and if you target them it's easy to rank because most of the time there are only a handful of other pages ranking for the term.
