As a salesman, there is no end to what you can learn. Anyone who believes there is a finish to the sales journey will not be successful. While it is possible to achieve a level where you might not want to rise anymore, there are still ways to make your activities more efficient and refined (and you can always go higher if you prefer so). Throughout your career, it is important to absorb as much sales knowledge as possible. This can be done through books, audiotapes, seminars, networking, and the Internet. If you keep your mind open to new opportunities, they will seemingly come to you, instead of the other way around.

In such a fast-paced world, it may be difficult to find time to learn. However, there are ways to do this without using any extra time. For example, when driving in the car, instead of listening to the radio, it would be wiser to listen to a book on tape/CD. Then time that was initially used for nothing becomes valuable. In addition, by being more attuned to the world, you can always learn things that can help you. There are many life and sales lessons that can be picked up just in the course of normal, daily activities, as long as you look for them.

Sales is not just its own industry; it is about relationships and communication. Expand your knowledge beyond that of just sales, and it will transfer over to your career. Some books, like those on creativity, can be applied to nearly any occupation. By becoming well rounded, you do not need to rely excessively on just one aspect of your personality, and can more easily adapt to situations.
