The Internet is a great way to increase your sales, and in what many call the Age of Information, utilizing this new resource is a must for salespeople. A common misconception is that you need to have an advanced website and must be able to take sales directly through the web. While both of these advantages are beneficial and should be implemented if possible, they are not necessary. For many salespeople, the Internet can just be a place to promote their own personal brand, create trust within the marketplace, and advertise their own products.
One of the most important things that people seek out on the Internet is content, or information. If you can provide high quality and unique content over a consistent period of time, your visitors will come to respect you and will be more likely to buy from you.
Prospects are more likely to purchase from salespeople that they have an emotional connection with. Somebody who arrives on your site may not buy from you immediately, but after a few months of getting free information that actually makes a difference in their life, they will be more willing to make a transaction. The majority of people probably will not buy from you, and instead will just be interested in the information you have to offer. However, they may send referrals your way, and there will always be a fair sized minority who become direct customers.
Investing in a website is something that all salespeople should do. In fact, it only costs a few dollars to set up a basic website, and the amount of tools available make designing your page extremely easy. As long as you update your website a few times a month, you will inevitably amass a following and increase your own recognition and sales.
